She has been obsessed with interior décor since the age of 14, when she ill-advisedly painted her bedroom a lurid lime green. Thankfully, her understanding of colour has come a long way since then, and she is currently redecorating her second home, one room at a time.

Before joining Your Home, Mel was editor of Homes & Antiques magazine, so she has a deep appreciation of quality design, and she tries to live by the William Morris ethos: ‘Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful’. She rarely succeeds, but she tries!
